In 1947, Dr. Erich Steingroever set up the ELEKTRO-PHYSIK company in Cologne. With the establishment of the company, specialized in coating thickness gauges, Dr. Steingroever laid the foundation for today’s success of MAGNET-PHYSIK.
The magnet technology division of ELEKTRO-PHYSIK was spun off in 1976, forming MAGNET-PHYSIK which today is a well-established company. Dr. Steingroever was supported by his son Dietrich Steingroever, who was initially the Technical Director, at MAGNET-PHYSIK and then served as CEO from 1989 until 2016.
In 2016, 40 years after the founding of the company, Dr. Erich Steingroever’s granddaughter Ana Ulrich and her husband Peter Ulrich took over the management of the thriving family-run company. Ana Ulrich studied International Business at FH Dortmund in a German-French degree program. After that she gained a lot of experiences in development controlling with one of the most important French automotive suppliers.
Peter Ulrich studied Electrical Engineering at TU Cologne. He specialized in the analysis and design of electric machines. After his studies he worked as design engineer with a leading electric motor manufacturer where he concentrated on the design of motors with magnets. With this enormous knowledge he can perfectly advise our customers.
By now MAGNET-PHYSIK is also internationally successful and has a subsidiary in the USA as well as a sales office in Shanghai.
Magnet-Physics Inc., the North America Division of MAGNET-PHYSIK, was established in 1999 to provide sales and technical support for MAGNET-PHYSIK products and services in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Central America.
Mr. Reinhold Strnat, president of the company since 2008, is an electrical engineer with a background in applied physics/magnetics. With over 40 years of experience in magnetizing technology and measurements for all types of magnet materials, Reinhold frequently presents at conferences and workshops. He is a Senior member of IEEE, a Fellow of ASTM International, past chairman of ASTM committee A06 on Magnetics, current chairman of subcommittee A06.01 on Test Methods, and a member of IEC TC68.
Magnet-Physics Inc., located near Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, offers magnetic test, measurement and magnetizing services for permanent magnets and soft magnetic materials. Since 2016 the company has operated a commercial calibration laboratory with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation through Perry Johnson Laboratory Accreditation Services.
In China MAGNET-PHYSIK is represented by a sales office.
Our project manager, Andy Luo, studied Electrical Engineering at the Glasgow University in Great Britain. He has been working with us since September 2006 and is the competent contact for our customers with questions relating to magnetics.
Thanks to his good contacts to universities and industry we could develop long-term business relations in China.
He is an experienced sales man and also carries out taking into operations and trainings as well as smaller repairs at our equipment.
